Spotrac predicts Odell Beckham, Jr.’s new contract will be worth $86 million

Odell Beckham, Jr., the New York Giants superstar wide receiver who is in the throes of forging a new, longterm contract with the club, is predicted to become the highest-paid at his position this season.

Spotrac.com, the website many fans and pundits turn to for salary cap and contract information, have calculated Beckham’s market value at $17,259,857 per year, meaning his new five-year deal will be worth a total of $86,299,285.

That deal would make Beckham the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL and the 31st highest-paid player overall. Beckham has said earlier this year that he wants to become the game’s most well-paid player but that means he’d have to be paid in the excess of $30 million per year.

Instead, he’ll have to settle for best-paid at his position. Pittsburgh’s Antonio Brown is currently the highest-paid wideout at $17 million even per year.

Tampa Bay’s Mike Evans owns the largest contract for a WR (5 years, $82.5M) which also came with the most guaranteed money ($38.258M).

Spotrac did not make a projection on how much of Beckham’s contract would be guaranteed. He is scheduled take $8.4 million this season. The new deal would not hit the Giants’ salary cap until next season.
