Fennelly on Fantasy: NFL Week 14 Cheat Sheet

The NFL 2018 season enters its final quadrant this weekend and fantasy owners and DFS players are getting desperate. In league play and cash games, players will be looking to offset what their opponents might present while DFS players seek that one final payday in tournament play.

Here’s my inside take on who might be worth a play in both formats.

Philip Rivers, Chargers vs Cincinnati: Rivers had been a steady performer this season, especially at home. He’s been over 21 points in each game and topped out at 32 early in the season. The Bengals have allowed the most fantasy points to QBs this year and basically have one foot on the bus right now. With the Chargers chasing the Chiefs for the AFC West crown, expect San Diego to keep their foot on the accelerator in this one. Other options: Aaron Rodgers, Packers vs Atlanta; Drew Brees, Saints at Tampa Bay.

Running Back

Gus Edwards, Ravens @ Kansas City: Edwards is dealing with an ankle injury but still racked up 82 yards on the ground last week vs Atlanta. He is coming off three consecutive strong outings now since taking over the bellcow role for Baltimore. He’s in a good position here against a sieve of a run defense in KC, who have allowed opposing RBs the third-most fantasy points this season. Other options: Justin Jackson, Chargers vs Cincinnati; LeGarrette Blount @ Arizona

Tight End

Vance McDonald, Steelers @ Oakland: The Raiders have had major issues covering tight ends this season, allowing over 17 fantasy points per week. McDonald has become a reliable target for Big Ben in the Pittsburgh passing game. Use only if necessary. Other options: Zack Ertz, Eagles @ Dallas; George Kittle vs Denver

Wide Receiver

STACK ALERT: Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Adam Humphries, Tampa Bay vs New Orleans. The Saints have allowed the most fantasy points to wideouts this year and even after the acquisition of Eli Apple, have not been able to slow many receivers down. With the Saints likely to run up the score where they can, expect the Bucs to fire right back with Jameis Winston, who has no fear when it comes to putting the ball up for grabs. Other options: Zay Jones, Bills vs NY Jets; Michael Thomas, Saints @ Tampa Bay

Denver Broncos @ San Francisco: The Broncos are a hot defense again, putting together back-to-back solid weeks against Cincinnati and Pittsburgh and face a 49ers’ offense with a rookie QB in Nick Mullens. Expect several sacks and perhaps a few turnovers. Other options: NY Giants @ Washington; Green Bay at home vs Atlanta; Eagles @ Dallas
